This has been one of the hardest topics to get people to write about.

Here at Lifesigns Magazine we strive to publish content that is relevant and useful to all our readers. When the idea to write about time and balancing it with all of life’s ups and downs I thought, “it’s a great idea”. However, it seems that most people don’t necessarily feel like they use time wisely or a least they don’t want to write about it. There are thousands of apps and options to help you better use your time, but they don’t seem to really help most people. Or at the very least they don’t feel like they are using their time in the best way possible by using these apps.

I have an older brother who used to be chronically late. He was always speeding trying to get to his next appointment because once again he was running late. By the way he used to get a lot of speeding tickets, as well. He is not so late anymore, though, mainly, because he is retired and doesn’t have anything he “has” to do. Don’t know if that fixed his misuse of time or not since he doesn’t have to be concerned with it as much now. I remember telling him on one of the many occasions he was late, “you will make time for what is important to you”. He did not take kindly to his little brother telling him that. He could not deny, however, that it was true.

Our time is a gift from God and how we use it says a lot about what we think about God. It also has a lot to say about what we think about ourselves. If we spend much of our time indulging in the latest and greatest food recipe then obviously our appetite is important to us. If we spend countless hours (btw your phone can tell you how much time you spend on it and the apps that you use) on our phones looking at stuff that has nothing to do with our life, our families, or our communities. If time with God is important to you, you will make time for it. If time with family is important you will make time for it as well. Yes, I understand that for the most part, the majority of people spend most of their time at work than they do anywhere else. It’s not about how much time you spend but the prioritizing of your time that is the tell-tale sign of what is important to you.

So, as you read the few articles that we do have and look at the pages of different ways to manage time wisely, stop and do a little soul searching. Ask yourself how you spend your time and how you balance all the juggling balls life throws at you every day. As you do let God speak to you and let His voice penetrate through the thick walls of frustration that might have been built up over the years. I promise if you do, He will give you a peace that will go beyond your understanding and others will see that peace and want it too. And they will come to you asking what you did to your schedule to have so much peace and time. Then you will probably not have enough time to answer them all. Ha!!
